iago, you can replace drinking with any other extracurricular hobby and it would be the same. If somebody spent all of their time playing XBox, sober, then their grades may or may not suffer the exact same as if they'd been drunk on the weekend. My hobby just happens to be partying on the weekends.

It all boils down to the person. If you're unable to focus on your studies over an internet game, then it's a problem with you and not the game.

I know people that manage good grades, and still are able to raid multiple days a week. It's like all things in life, you just have to be responsible and know how to manage your time.

While I agree that that is the main problem, it is extremely easy to get "lost in time" in a game like WoW. I try not even to log in on days when I have lots of work to do.

It's true, but this is not the fault of the game. More of a problem with the person.
Using the game as an excuse isn't really valid, as the same thing could happen with anything else that you really enjoy.

Everything should be taken in moderation, no one is holding a gun to your head telling you to drop bosses.
It's tiring to hear people use World of Warcraft as a scapegoat.

Some people are genetically prone to becoming alcoholics, though.  I don't think it's fair to say someone who doesn't have that condition and has the ability to quit drinking has more self control than someone who has the condition and can't.

Yea, of course. This is speaking in general, that would be factored in on a per-person basis though.

True, but the point I'm trying to make is I don't think it's fair to immediately label someone who has a hard time managing their time with a game as irresponsible.  I agree that irresponsibility has a lot to do with not being able to play the game only when there's time for it, but I think some people are naturally more prone to being sucked into it than others.

That sucks. I'm surprised that yall purchase beers like that and not cheap domestic stuff. It has nothing to do with your socioeconomic background or how you were raised.

Alright, I'll concede to that. I think my point still stands on the blame not being on the game though.

Some people are more prone to being sucked in, but if those people do a little introspection, they might be smart enough to not get into that situation. That's one reason why I have never touched the game, I know how much time I threw away on Diablo II. :)

I just created arguments for 3 cases ... this is one of the weirdest tests I've taken.  I need to crank out one more, I think, case argument from the fact set and I should be good.

I sort of wish that the format was a little more defined and that the fact set had better indicators of which issues may/may not be actionable cases, but I guess this is pretty "real world."  I just feel sorry for anyone in this class that isn't interested in law.  The class is a "Viewing the Wider World" and there are a NUMBER of non-law related people in there, one girl is completely thrown off.  I'm just greatful I've had a few classews related to law and work for a lawyer...I have a fair amount of background expereience that has helped me.

Too bad that this is a group test, I dislike trust other people to do their share (one of my partners is that girl that is lost, we're helping her).

That sucks. I'm still only taking freshman courses though, so my homework is usually just reading and Spanish...at least this semester. Last semester I actually had more assignments, but I'm taking 3 less credit hours this semester.

I'm not even "IN" college and I'm taking harder courses than you. No wonder you have time to go out and party and get wasted.
