seriously though it just means you're coming off as too serious, not funloving, etc. just loosen up

certainly "taking yourself too seriously" can be a legitimate criticism, but usually, it's an indication to me that the person is a little too shallow for my interests.

Not that trust's advice isn't good.  unless I didn't think I was being "too" serious, I'd probably just try to relax and have fun. :)

Oh damn, I always thought it meant they don't like guys who think they're all that.  I guess it's the "themselves" part in it that confused me.

I've never actually had someone tell me I take myself too seriously.  I just realized that I didn't completely know what this rather common phrase really meant until I was purging my spam box last night.

It's always baffled me why people say things like "knows how to have fun" and "likes to have fun".  Fun is so subjective.

Yeah it's subjective but there are things that the average person is going to find fun. Plus if you don't find the same things to be fun you're not going to be compatible anyway.

I don't like those descriptors, because they sound too keen. But it just means they're not going to be all grim when they meet you.

I've had that happen to me before, on a date.  The girl basically just frowned and acted sullen the whole time.  Sometimes major extroverts can make me feel uncomfortable, and introverted.  But at the same time, it's a drag if someone acts like they're having the worst time of their life before anything even happens.
