I power up my PC and the bios detects my processor WAY slower than it is. 1.4 GHz to 1.1 GHz
Any ideas how to fix/what caused this? I already tried clearing my CMOS jumper.
One must ask oneself: "do I will trolling to become a universal law?" And then when one realizes "yes, I do will it to be such," one feels completely justified.

CMOS settings should have nothing to do with that.

Try entering BIOS and checking its processor speed display.

Your motherboard can actually support the BIOS versions for 1.4GHz right? You're in the same boat as me right now, underclocked system cause of crappy motherboard that can't support higher bios. (I'm maxed at 1.15Ghz)

If he just recently started getting the problem, it's most likely his CMOS which would need to be reset. Since only gave limited information, such as when the problem started happening, if it ever worked at all, and if he changed anything right before it stopped working.

Unless he's messing with processor speed in BIOS, it shouldn't happen.  If he was, I think he'd realize the problem.

Well, it's probably just me, because I've had such bad motherboards in the past that I'd get random problems like this that were solved by fixing the CMOS.

Yeah, your motherboard(s) sound rather nonfunctional if that's happening.  :P

Flash the BIOS. Just remove the motherboard battery and stick it back in. If that doesn't work, then your motherboard is gay.

Often you have to leave the battery out for several hours on some motherboards.  Power is stored in capacitors and it takes a while for it to fade.

Hm, I didin't know that. Isin't there a jumper to flash it?
