MyndFyre's Music Revue
« on: December 03, 2005, 02:13:46 am »
OK, so here's the heads-up: I don't listen to a whole lot of pop music.  Generally I think it sucks.  There are a few artists I really like though.

Linkin Park: these guys are really talented.  The voicings in "Numb" are a good example - a distinction between the screamy-ness and the regular sound and regular singing is incredible.  I'm sure that he took some time to change over in the studio versions, but he's got to do it live too.  It's cool.  I'm kind of iffy though in thinking that they're supporting the Emo movement, which blows.  I'm torn between the evident personal investment in the music (seen in the music video) and the emo elements (also seen in the music video).  I never thought about the song in an emo sense until I saw the music video, so I don't know if that's necessarily true.

Eminem: this guy is a loser.  He has amazing talent.  But he blows it.  For example "Without Me".  Need I say more?  He's a jackass.  "Cuz we need a little controversy"?  Retard.

Huey Lewis and the News: this might date me a little.  They kick ass.  Reminds me of the days when you didn't need to be a jackass to be a good band.

Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears: make me long for the days when you didn't need to be a total whore to be famous.

Any kind of metal: you suck.

Elton John: two words -- Bohemian Rhapsody.  :P

Ricky Martin: I think this guy's fame was too short-lived.  He seems like he's got actual talent, but I guess he didn't sell out to the rich white folk and didn't really live on forever.  Too bad.

Offspring: Preach "Why don't you get a job" brothers!

Any kind of country: shutup newb!

I'd go on but I think my head is going to explode.  :P

You ment "Review" right? I liked Linkin Park back in the day... I've haven't heard much of their new stuff... but they've been getting worse. Oddly... I can listenly to Eminem... although I don't like it... it doesn't burn my ears.

No, I spelled "Revue" that way on purpose.  See reference to "Blues Brothers."  ;)

Eminem is god. It's his style of rapping he says things on his mind withought caring what people say.

Take for example: Mosh, Toy Soliders, etc..
His freestyles are legendary (Emcee Olympics, vs Cannibus, ICP Disses, etc..)

One must ask oneself: "do I will trolling to become a universal law?" And then when one realizes "yes, I do will it to be such," one feels completely justified.

I think ever group/singer/whatever has their goods and bads, to say Eminem blows his talen though, is plain bullshit. Even though I dislike most of his work, a lot of his stuff IS made by him, and on average he doesn't bullshit, which is rare to see anymore.

My choices of bands/singers:

Matisyahu -- Jewish beat boxer/rapper, supporter of weed, guarenteed there'd be something of his you'd like.

54-40 -- Canadian rock band, one of the first rock bands I've liked in a while, and they're not emo!

Swollen Members -- ...Oh man I love these guys.

Kottonmouth Kings -- Another weed supporting rap group, I posted a song on this forum of theirs somewhere..

Dope -- My favorite metal band.

My roommate is a big LP fan.

I'll see if i can dig up their old underground music when they were called Xero and Hybrid Theory. It's really good.

Eminem is a queerbag. The only rap worth listening to is Necro, not because it's good, but because it's funny as shit. There are dozens of samples of his stuff on his site. He's a rapper/produces obsessed with gore, porn, drugs and metal. Check it out or get snuffed.

Of all the bands you listed, that's the only one I've heard of, and all I can say about them is, "eww"

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

GreenDay fails at life. Fad or not.

Most people I know dislike the lyrics, they only buy the CD's because the tune sounds cool. From what I've been told.
