Various Questions: Using Slackware as a router+hardware firewall
« on: December 19, 2005, 10:00:16 pm »
I was taking to iago breifly, but a friend came and he had to go. Anyhow, I've got an old-ish computer, with specs comparable to darkside (plus a keyboard and mouse), and I'm downloading slackware, that aside..

1) Does anyone have any experience using ppp to connect to the internet? (I'm going to get a hardware modem)

2) Is anyone willing to walk me through port forwarding and iptables setup?

3) Do you suggest any aditional software, for either my slackware box or my other networked computers to keep them secure?

According to iago, this is feasable, and a good idea (better than windows anyhow). I'm looking forward to knowing I'm secure-ish! =)
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

I know that KWolf messed around with BSD and serveral other things as firewalls.
Who gives a damn? I fuck sheep all the time.
And yes, male both ends.  There are a couple lesbians that need a two-ended dildo...My router just refuses to wear a strap-on.
