Gaim for Windows
« on: April 19, 2006, 11:39:35 pm »
I despise Gaim for Windows.  It doesn't run nearly as good as it does with Linux.  Why did Gaim's CPU usage shoot up to 99% when I tried to send Ergot a file? :(

Because writing portable applications can only be pulled off by Mozilla.
And GTK sucks.
One must ask oneself: "do I will trolling to become a universal law?" And then when one realizes "yes, I do will it to be such," one feels completely justified.

(Although maybe it only does on Linux..)

Maybe on Linux (For portability across desktop enviroments) but on Windows, MacOS, BeOS, etc..
It uses their native UI drawing system. It abstracts this in their source tree which makes it easy and
not speed effective to port their browser to your OS.

I use gaim on windows, I don't have any major problems caused by it. Anyways, if you didn't use gaim, what would you use on windows? Trillian is much worse at slowing down your computer, at least from my experience. And the regular aim client supports only aim, and is bogged down with extra shit you dont need, such as advertisements.........

Gaim has terrible file sharing capabilities using the AIM protocol. I've used the MSN with quite a bit of success, though slow some times. Like right now, my download froze at 44% from deadly :(.

That's because deadly uses the Indian random-byte-order switching protocol that Gaim hasn't implemented yet.  :P
I have a programming folder, and I have nothing of value there

Running with Code has a new home!

Our species really annoys me.

Yeah, the developers talked about that problem once.  They said that it's a closed protocol that they haven't been able to completely reverse engineer, but if anybody wants to help, they're welcome to.

I'll invent a new filesharing method.
It will be called uploading things to a webserver den having da guy it.

By the way my Irbos protocol is perfectly fine!  You just need my plugin.  It's called "Linux.exe"
