*yawn*  It's called a private server, such as WowwoW.  GMs use a console when they do commands, rather then chat.  Proof via Burning Crusade interviews.

Also, I've done all that and solo MC on my private server.  It's nothing special.

No guys you're all dumbasses.  They removed this in WoW 0.9.2 IIRC (this was one major patch before Open Beta) as a default option.  Now just add the command-line argument "-console" and when you're ingame you can press ~ to launch it.

Of course if you're rabbit and can't get a ~, you should kill yourself.
