I'm just going to post an email from my friend/cousin here:

Hey buddy,
What's a good site for IT news?
A few ISPs had issues / outages yesterday (and kinda carried into today).
I wanna see if I can find any news on that.
Anything that has to do with SBC, Cogent, Cox, or Vitalstream.
I'm sure you know some sites that have really good up-to date news, can yah
share em?

Anybody have any ideas?

No, but I'd like to know the same thing, becasue yesterday the link between google and comcast was down for a good few hours.

Yeah, a few ISPs had issues:

I've heard from our CTO (who was talking to a guy at Group Telecom in the
city) that Cogent had actually published bad routing tables (can't remember
what the acronym is), which in turn screwed up a bunch of surrounding
routers for approx 30 hours.

It seems that everything is back to normal now.

Routing is so complex, I'm surprised that stupid stuff like that doesn't happen more often. 

Do you think digg.com would help?

Not for what he needs.
