Printer help

I'm at a friend's computer, but it won't add a printer because the spooler isn't started. I can start the spooler but it stops as soon as a I go back to add it. Solutions? I checked for adware and spyware already.

Did you install the printer drivers?  I know with my computer it refused to add the printer until I installed drivers, so eh.
