Opinions on NRA Essay

Hi, would you guys mind quickly offering some opinions on this essay for the NRA scholarship contest? The topic is on the importance of the second amendment.

Is it supposed to be personal?  I didn't read through the whole thing, but I did notice you used "I" a lot.
