My stepdad tripped the breaker while vacuuming, and I didn't notice for a little while.

Nothing to do with the IP.  :P

So... at the risk of inciting another argument, this site is on a dynamic ip? lol?

Yup.

Why not?
Because DNS caching would render it temporarily offline for many people every time the IP changes

And it hasn't been an issue thusfar, so why change now?

The TTL on a no-ip or dyndns domain is 2 minutes.  That means that assuming I had the proper software running, there is <2-minutes gap every month or two.  The world will keep spinning.

Ergot

What if I start dying in those two minutes, and I can't inform you guys? ):

You can set the TTL to whatever you want if you have your own DNS...

iago

Yes, I know that, but your own DNS doesn't automatically update with your IP.  That's why it's easier to have a no-ip or dyndns address, those are designed to be dynamic.

You have the craziest excuses, and I don't think this is the first time it involved someone tripping (or possibly, tripping over) something. :P

I think I can safely say "this is iago's website and he knows what he's doing".

When your computer is in a publicish area, this stuff happens.

Shouldn't you move it then :P? Or camouflage it with some snow...

You're right. Technically, Lobo owns the domain.
