Facebook killed the radio star. And by radio star, I mean the premise of distributed forums around the internet. And that got got by Instagram/SnapChat. And that got got by TikTok. Where the fuck is the internet we once knew?

They reference a news article that drew an invalid conclusion from our report. And because everybody hates Symantec (perhaps for good reason), they're accepting it as evidence of Symantec's malice, but we didn't even say that!

Is Slashdot _always_ this bad? :-o

Ergot

LOL I saw that last night, but wasn't sure if it was part of your whole group thingy.

QuoteThe numbers are all pulled from a public source (SecurityFocus/Bugtraq, which are owned by Symantec). So no, there's no conspiracy. But I'll continue to wear my tinfoil hat.

HAHAHAHA!

Well, most of the replies were serious, but that was a reply to a "Funny" post so I had to stick with funny.

Unfortunately, I very much doubt they'd care.

But one of them got +1 informative! I'm changing the world!

The problem is, I've found that if you don't reply in the first 20 - 30 minutes, you don't get noticed. I don't read Slashdot frequently enough, so most of my comments are unnoticed.

Chavo

Yea, I've stopped reading slashdot on a regular basis because of the constant claims of the thread posters getting it wrong.

iago

I generally filter out everything that isn't moderated "funny" -- that's all I generally care about.

Joe

If that article is true, however, I still find it pathetic that it would take a full team of OS developers 13 days to fix and patch a high-priority vulnerability when they're getting paid only God knows how big a fortune to do it.
Quote from: Camel on June 09, 2009, 04:12:23 PMI'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

The numbers are accurate -- you can find them here.

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.
