more money in system at same tax rate = more govt income as far as taxes go.

also, this is a county-wide increase of .25% to our 7.125% sales tax (i believe it is 7.125 now)

I can promise you that it wouldn't make a difference; the government would only find a way to spend even more money.  Until everybody in office starts caring about the deficit, nothing is going to change.
