Requesting an upto date quickstart tutorial..
« on: May 26, 2007, 07:05:47 pm »
If any long time javaop2 users read this and would like you possibly put together a post to hopefully get stickied or get with me and i'll help you make a post to hopefully have someone sticky.

Basically along the lines of the basic's of how to setup local hashing and where the config files on windows and linux are etc..
A quickstart from scratch how to get javaop2 in it's current state up and running, + some extra posts to get local hashing setup properly, and what the different bnls servers are and why they don't all support the same clients etc..
Include links to the other stickies where it would save time etc..

The reason is im noticing posts where alot of people are having connection issues and other things.
Some users are even coming from iago's older versions not knowing they need to update to new files etc.
Also im finding people don't generally know where the config files are or that they even exist so it would be nice to have a generic post to throw out instead or repeating things over and over again.

I could do and will write something up if no one else does, but im really busy at the moment and wont be able to for a few days.

Idea's and comments appreciated.

I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

Actually iago would you mind if I copied this nearly verbatum into a post: http://www.javaop.com/started.html
Pretty much just need to edit the download links and possibly add some information about why localhasing is broken and some info about the switch from rcrs to bnls etc.. add some links to other sticky's here and that probably would cover alot of the repetition...
