Hitmen

I'm almost embarrassed to be posting this, considering how much I usually make fun of people for RPing..... but I was kinda forced into it against my will (stupid powerful women), and came out with a much much better experience than I expected. The game was Vampire: The Masquerade part of the World of Darkness series. I don't really know anything about pen and paper RPG stuff, but according to the guy who was the GM it is really good, as are a lot of the games in the series, but all the new ones suck (or something like that). I think vampires are pretty lame, but oh well.

Anyways, the vast majority of the reason this worked out well for me was we had a really really good group of people who all get along really well, and have met at least once or twice before. Only the GM and my girlfriend had ever played the specific game before, and other four of us hadn't, so while I was completely new to RPing in general at least I didn't slow everything down that terribly to start with. The three others had played tons of D&D and other types of games but not this one specifically. Another useful thing at least for character creation (since there were only two books) was that the guy who was GM is uh, ridiculous and has almost everything in the book memorized, including what page most things are on. The GM is also part 2 of why the game was so enjoyable. The kid is just so damn good at running games.. he plans his stories out really really well, while still leaving plenty of room for the group to do what they want.

**snip**

I was reaching page 4 in MS word when I realized that I was only 20 minutes into the story (out of like 4 hours), and really didn't want to type any more. If I finish it I will post it, since WoW expired and I do not have immediate access to a credit card, it might actually happen. I am that bored. For now I will just say that it was really damn cool, and I think I like it.

Oh yeah, and I didn't sleep last night. I had way more caffeine than I usually do in one day, on an empty stomach. I also had woken up really late (4pm-ish) which threw me off... and then I ate lots of pizza and chineese food. This resulted in 0 sleep and still feeling like crap. But I'm wide awake before noon, which is really weird. I will probably crash, as there is no way in hell I can drink caffeine for at least 24 hours without getting even more sick.

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, that's one of my favorite things to do. It's so hard to find a good group, though...

I have some friends who play that, I think, but I never have. It sounds like it'd be a neat game, judging by their stories.

And in terms of rules, it's pretty scary, but when you play the same game on a semi-regular basis, you get to know the rules pretty fast. In my favorite games, I can name pretty much any item (with price, stats, etc.), rule, or formula that is typically used. I don't try to memorize them, but it comes quickly. :)

<edit> wait a sec, you make fun of us? You bastard!! :P

Ok, no I don't. You bastard Hitmen! :)

On a related note, wasn't that game a computer game at one point?

Sounds great. I miss D&D. By the way, Newbis, there's a friend of Zach's that I just LAN-ed with recently, who is into D&D, and has a group, and would be willing to let me and another in, if you want.

Yeah, I'd have to agree. That didn't go very far. :)

That's because my computer caught on fire. And I got grounded the next day for being drunkerly.

Roleplaying online doesn't even come close to matching real life roleplaying.

Maybe not in impersonal settings like WoW, but with small(er) groups of known people, it can work out surprisingly well given a good DM or two and good players.

We lacked the good players part. Hell, one of them (*cough* blaze you sonofabitch) was playing WoW in the background.

And halfway through my computer (the IRC server) caught a fire in the power supply...
