Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
« on: August 22, 2008, 04:07:25 am »
So I played the demo today and I'm sold.  I'm getting it when it comes out.

Anyone else?
I have a programming folder, and I have nothing of value there

Running with Code has a new home!

Our species really annoys me.

After playing Jedi Academy for a week, I think it needed more lightsaber.  :)
And like a fool I believed myself, and thought I was somebody else...

omg, Jedi Academy is an awesome game.  Force Lightening is so overpowered.

What platforms will this game be on?  I remember the demos looking awesome.

Well, it's possible it will be ported over the PC after a few months like most other games this generation.

It seems less game developers are releasing for the PC because their games are just getting snatched up by pirates.

Shrug.

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

It's pretty lame to me that the majority of console owners assume pirating console games is impossible. For the 360, it's not even hard!

There's a mix of what you can do with it though.  If you pirate a game for the 360 you need to implement some kind of hardware override.  And if you do that they can lock you out with firmware updates, or block you from XBL, at which point to get on XBL you need to then remove your hardware patch...

Well, the 360 also has reliability issues (RROD), and voiding the warranty isn't the nicest of thoughts. I'm assuming that to install the hardware override, you have to void the warranty. If not, my bad.

Also, it seems like all this copy protection is actually hurting the consumer. Pirates more than likely aren't going to buy the game anyway, but the copy protection is put in place to somehow stop them, and it fails miserably every time. However, the cd keys, online activation, etc. can be a huge pain in the ass for the actual consumer. They just want to play the game they bought without jumping through hoops.

I believe that cdkeys for online play is enough to make people buy the game.  Anything other than that is just annoying.  :\

If you have it for PC, want to play?  :)

Holy bump!

That's not entirely accurate; you re-flash the firmware on the DVD drive so that it will lie about the media code - making the console think that any old DVD is 360 media. I can't imagine any situation where the console would wish to re-write the flash on the DVD drive, but in the event that it does, I don't see any reason why it should fail. I know for a fact that at least one of the drives that Microsoft uses doesn't even allow reading the firmware via the ATA interface, which should be enough to speculate that they won't check.

I've never heard of anyone having problems with a modded 360 and XBL.
