Keep in mind, this is his first day driving in his life:
We go down the road, some person is a little close to him because he -is- going slow, as is normal for someone who is driving in his first day. He says the following to me, his mom, and his fat friend Zach:

30 seconds later he takes a 90 degree turn at like 30 MPH, he didn't go into the wrong lane but it was scary as fuck.

It's really not that much more difficult. Sure you will stall a few times while you learn, but meh.
Well, I learned on automatic. Then one day, a friend of mine decides he wants to teach me stick. The first time I tried, I completely dumped the clutch. Eventually, I was able to shift and all that nonsense. Unfortunately, I haven't driven stick sense, so I'm probably horrible again.
When my brother was teaching me to drive, he had a stick. I think they're fun. Just takes a little while to figure out how to get into first gear. :)

You must have missed my post about Tory and I's trip to Madison. To popstart a car, clutch push shift unclutch and tap the gas. It didn't work, but eh?
...I think more people need to learn how to drive a stick...that way when those that drive a stick car are too drunk to drive someone can drive the car.

The car needs to be in gear and going >5 mph. Otherwise the tires lock up and it doesn't compress the gas.
I learned on a manual, and have been driving one since I was 13. I prefer them over automatics because automatics have this nasty habit of shifting badly, that alone makes me ever want to drive them. Not to mention; manuals have the ability to get better gas miliage.
[Edit] Also, after like a week it's all second nature. You can stop for monthes then start again, and you still shift perfectaly.

Not so. Reset the ECM and drive really shitty, slamming on the gas often. It'll learn to shift really bad and late, redlining it before it switches gears.

Not really. Most cars just require you to diconnect your car battery, wait 10 minutes, then reconnect it. Then, supposedly, you're supposed to go through a sequence in your owner's manual. However, if you just drive it after reset, it will learn things incorrectly (like automatic shifting), and hence will redline.

Learn to drive a manual, I've driven tons of manuals ranging from imports to full size trucks, and then to muscle cars. Once you have the general concept down it only takes a few minutes to get adjusted to a different vehicle, because no two are the same. You need to find the "spot" in the clutch, to do it slowly let off the clutch until you feel the car start moving ( while in 1st ), it will start rolling EXTREMELY slowly, from there you need to give a little gas and start letting of the clutch. Most people refer to the process as a "teeter totter" when learning, it's actually extremely simple.

They're not really sporty or visually amazing or anything, but they work if you wash them regularily (salt from roads during winter eats away at anti-rust coating). My dad, up until this year, was using a car made in 1990. 1990 Corolla. That thing still ran and everything worked. Just, he didn't wash the car in the winter ever so the body went to hell (rusts literally the size of my entire leg).

My little Chevy S-10 has been around for 24 years. It was made 1983. It still runs and everyting works, the only problem (at the moment) is a clutch that I'm fixing later this summer. It's got a total of like, maybe 1 cubic foot of rust. It's been through many winters and salty roads. (It has a protective layer of like, .25" dirt. Keeps the water out, and off of the suspention.) I <3 it! It also gets 24 city and 30~ highway mpg!

My Mustang doesn't give me any major problems, I just have a bunch of small ones because the dumbasses that had it before me didn't take care of it...that being one of the reasons I may just gut it and turn it into a strip car.
