Finally, here's a good video of us playing my favorite song at my favorite venue. We hadn't played the song in a while so the solo is a bit rough, but it's the best version I have.

Considering the laughter I got out of this video, I'd say it's more humorous than political.

What's a good, slick bit torrent client? I used to use Azureus, but it has become over-bloated as a media portal.

General Discussion / Resignation
« on: August 29, 2008, 01:40:29 am »
I'm horrible with moderation of certain forms of entertainment, and the internet is surely one of them. Back when I came off of the road, I had a much smaller connection with x86, making it easy not to lurk the forums for multiple hours a day. Getting important things done gave me a whole 'nother level of confidence, and since I've become an internet sloth again, I've mostly lost it.

Considering my past failures at moderating my internet presence, I know my resignation is best for me (and I'm sure Warrior won't mind).

I'll keep in touch occasional, mostly to post shows to meet some of you.

Entertainment District / New Metallica - The Day That Never Comes
« on: August 22, 2008, 11:29:22 pm »
The title must be referring to the day new Metallica is as good as the old.

I define "The Black Album" as the beginning of new Metallica, and "...And Justice For All" as the end of old Metallica.

The good news is, if the rest of the album is anything like 5:20-end, then I place this album between The Black Album and Justice For All, and call it "The Broken Bridge - New Metallica Attempts Old Metallica."

It's definitely not as riffy and angry as old Metallica, but hopefully it's because it's the ballad like everyone says.

There are a few decent riffs from 5:20-end, and 1 good solo. I'd say anyone who's was an old Metallica fan at any point should at least listen to this section out of curiosity.

Haven't you learned arguing politics on forums never goes anywhere? It's always a couple people trying to one-up each other every post. No one else reads it, and you never convince the other person.

MMAA (Metal Militia Association of America) rated NSFW for mild profanity.

A 13 year old from Texas who stole his Dad's credit card and ordered two hookers from an escort agency, has today been convicted of fraud and given a three year community order.

I love the ending line, "Ralph's ambition is to one day become a politician."

General Discussion / Creative Word Game
« on: April 18, 2008, 09:00:39 pm »
Take a simple concept (humorous, philosophical, anything) and rewrite it into something ridiculously complicated. Here's one I came up with:

To hallucinate, stay up for days on end.
BECOMES
To taste the shift of truth to dream, sustain the switch of dim and gleam.

The new sentence is perfectly symmetrical, it rhymes, and it's meaning can be interpreted many different ways.

It's a fun exercise to boost your creative ability. See what you can come up with.

Edited to rhyme.

Welcome back!

Since a few months ago, Deimos, the site administrator, lacks the necessary time to take care of the website, because of personal matters he's been needing to attend to. For this reason, he has decided to leave the site staff.

Before leaving, he assigned a new site administrator from among his friends to take care of the site. The old moderator team will continue helping with the site, unchanged. We will try to keep running everything just as it always has been.

The trackers and website seem to be working properly, and should any issues arise, they will be taken care of as soon as possible. The site might be going on and offline over the next days as we work out any problems.

Welcome back, and enjoy your stay!

General Discussion / iTunes Substitute?
« on: April 05, 2008, 11:50:08 pm »
I'm looking for any kind of replacement that has battery charging capabilities, along with the ability to upload and download mp3's (optional). If software for uploading songs isn't available, then I don't mind using rockbox.

I got so fed up with all of the overhead iTunes comes with. Namely, whenever you open up iTunes, it configures a completely unnecessary and suspicious service to automatically start at startup, even if you've manually disabled it. Though I guess I'll reinstall iTunes if I have to...

General Discussion / Arizona Diamondback Rattlesnake Encounter
« on: March 12, 2008, 06:30:22 pm »
I was walking out in the middle of the desert with my dogs on state-trust land (basically untouched desert with a few dirt trails). I took off their leashes so they can run around happily. It's completely silent; no cars, no houses, nothing. Without any warning whatsoever, I hear a very abrupt and VERY loud hissing noise at my feet. I look down to see I'm standing ON one of these http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e3/Crotalus_atrox_CDC.png, half coiled, sitting right there in the middle of a dirt trail probably soaking up some sun.

A Western Diamondback Rattlesnake, responsible for the most snake-bite fatalities in Mexico, and the second greatest in the USA. They are one of the more aggressive species found in North America because they rarely back away from confrontation. Most of the toxin released is proteolytic like all other American pit vipers. Proteolytic venoms are, in fact, advanced and concentrated fluids that destroy tissues and other cells through intramolecular digestion. A few toxic effects include: cytotoxic (destroys cells), hemotoxic (destroys red blood cells), myotoxic (causes paralysis and muscle destruction), hemorrhagic (causes persistent bleeding). Smaller amounts of neurotoxins are also present.

After being shocked in place for a split second, my instinct kicked it, causing me to scream like a little girl while jumping back 5 feet. Very surprisingly, it didn't strike. These snakes are very well known to strike even if you're 3-5 feet away, let alone standing on it. Not to mention I was alone, had left my cell phone at home, and was a 10 minute walk away from any paved road.

Looking back on it, it was a hell of an adrenaline rush and I'm glad it happened. Now I know to stay alert and look more closely where I step while walking in the middle of the desert. I'm planning on getting my dogs snake trained as well.
