[x86] Announcements / Server finally died :D

I couldn't get MySQL to turn on this morning. I knew it was coming - it's been having harddrive problems for awhile.

So, I moved everything to Linode, and it seems to be good! Let me know if you run into any problems, something always goes wrong when I move the server.

FWIW, my last backup was a week old, so earlier today there were a couple posts missing. I just went back and copied the original files (not backups, but the files themselves) off my old server and loaded them here, and it seems to be working. :)

I keep forgetting you guys exist

You don't say!

So I went to log in to my forum name @gmail for the first time in... probably 3 years. I haven't used the email address or the name for even longer than that.

After a long time I guessed my password and was greeted with this:

The answer? newby.

Remember when you made a shitty VB program that refreshed a website that was giving away gmail invites until it changed, and we got invites way early? My welcome email from gmail is from June 04, so this is over 11 years ago. God damn.

/nostalgia trip

Also my inbox is very fun. 8000+ unread messages. In the first year or so, my email has become associated with at least 1 Apple ID, Snapchat, vine and instagram account, all appearing to be different people. It's been used as the recovery email for 12 different gmail addresses in 4 different languages. It was used to rent a car in Israel, and sent a very long chat log of a WhatsApp sext session in Spanish. How do so many people use the wrong email for important stuff! The amount of personal information you can get from some of this stuff is silly. Not to mention plain text passwords from shitty websites.
