svchost Woes
« on: November 19, 2007, 11:07:08 pm »
svchost is giving me issues, and has been for a while.  Specifically, it's the RPC one, so just stopping it isn't an option.  Basically what it does is it sits around eating CPU usage all the time, usually between 20% and 80% (it seems random).  Reformatting didn't work, I'll say that up front.  I've tried all the other fixes I could find online.  Anyone have any ideas?

If reformatting didn't work, I'd suspect a hardware problem. Swap out your hardware bits till it stops being broken?

I can't see this being a hardware problem... I've had this problem with a few of my Dell's before. It's Microsoft's fault... try Windows Vista maybe?  :-\

My computer isn't the biggest fan of Vista (it doesn't run so well).  Maybe if Newby ever got me Vista, I'd install it.

I've worked with dozens of computers, and that's never happened before. I find it unlikely that it's a random Windows foible.

I CAN'T find you a All Versions of Vista DVD ISO.  So DON'T message me on AIM/MSN.

You CAN advertise pirated editions of programs you SHOULDN'T be buying!

I'm not sure how to play this game? ??? -> :(

Vista DVDs are always all-versions. If you have one that's both 32-bit AND 64-bit, though, that's impressive. :P

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.
