I know we've said this before, but I promise this time: we have a permanent channel. Probably. In any case, it's a server I've been on for about 5 months now, and I'm not about to go off it (I hang out with real life friends), so I'll always be there for sure.

Server: Freenode (irc.freenode.net)
Channel: #x86labs

Join me there! Hang around! And whatever!

If you register your names with NickServ, I can give you auto-voice (non-members) or auto-ops (members).

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

What's the difference between ops and half-ops? Giving non-member forum regulars half-ops might be ok.

What a brilliant idea. Wonder who thought of it...

I guess you were getting lonely in there, iago. :P

LOL at surrounding text.

BTW, give me auto-ops ASAP please. When I got kicked by Joe (how terrible of him) I had to ask to be re-opped. :(

BTW#2, we should ban Joe (again) for abusing ops in IRC.

You didn't answer my question.

Newby

There is no half-op on FreeNode so we're in luck. :)

Haha nice.

So to everybody else, once you get an account, you want to:
/msg nickserv register <password>

And when you log in again, you want to:
/msg nickserv identify <password>

Then you can be auto-op'ed or auto-voice'ed. Newby will take care of that (because I don't know how :) )

rabbit

Halfops can change the topic and kick/ban people, but can't do other things like change channel modes.

WRONG!

Halfops can grant/revoke voice and change the topic.
And like a fool I believed myself, and thought I was somebody else...

rabbit

I said they can change the topic, and I never said anything about user modes.  Learn to read.

They cannot kick/ban, on any normal IRC server.

rabbit

Duh, normal IRC servers don't HAVE halfops.  But, where they exist, they can kick and ban voiced and unflagged users.
