District 9
« on: September 14, 2009, 04:26:27 am »
Didn't know what to think of it at first, but once it got a little further into the plot the uniqueness of the film began appealing to my need for something original. Unquestionably one of the more foreign movies I’ve seen as of late. The gore was off the charts but the excessive usage of the f*** word a spot much for my liking. I found myself emotionally attached with a nice flow of adrenaline and anticipation. All in all I like it.
I am prepared to be ridiculed for what I believe, are you?

I found it interesting, but not an especially good movie.  Rent.

It'd be a fine theater movie, I think. The story was interesting. Plenty of action, too.

I thought it was pretty good.  I didn't expect all of the popping, but it wasn't and unwelcome surprise.

Yeah, worth seeing in theaters, I think.  The story was really interesting, but as others said, the violence/gore was a little too much for my taste.  I wasn't grossed out or anything, but it just seemed to distract from a really novel plot

What exactly was overly violent/gory about it? There was a part or two that was a little gross, but wasn't most of the killing just people being vaporized by various alien weapons? It has been a while since I saw it but I don't remember that much

I thought it was pretty good movie but the internet hype machine vastly overrates it.

There's a difference between vaporized and popped :P
