I move to Maryland tomorrow... woot.  Although it's going to be a bitch getting all my shizzle up to the third floor apartment.  :(

So I moved into my apartment for the summer on Tuesday. Yesterday we went to get the internet set up and can anybody explain this to me?

There is an ethernet port in both bedrooms in the apartment. How are we supposed to network the internet through the apartment? Is that even possible? I can't find a third "input" ethernet port anywhere. It's like we're forced to buy a wireless router if we both want to use the internet.

Where's the modem at?  I'm guessing they're connected through a switch somewhere, so there probably isn't an "input".  I think the easiest way to get the answer to this is to ask the apartment office, heh.

Plugged into the wall and then to my laptop right now. We just went on craigslist and found a wireless router for $15. Problem solved. But still, illogical setup by the complex.

Worked. Hacked. Wrote a scanner for a 0-day vulnerability in IIS6 and 5.1. Wrote an exploit for said vulnerability. Generated a ton of traffic to my blog, and continued putting my name out there.

And tonight, I'm going to make apple pie. :)

Meh, so my apartment rent includes a $25 charge for "Cable", but I'm not sure if this includes internet access or not... I'll have to ask the apartment management what I need to do to go about and get internet access setup/what ISPs are available if it's not included in the $25 charge.

Do/did you live in the southern Maryland (St. Mary's County/ Lexington Park) area?

No, my cousin lives just outside DC and I've visited him a few times including helping him move in and get Internet.

I'm so pissed.  Not going to have internet until at least Wednesday (the day after my first day on the job)... and that is if I decide it's worth the risk asking my boss (whoever that ends up being) if I can get off early that day to be available when the cable guy comes to install the cable internet.  Grrrrrrrr.

In my experience, bosses seem to understand that new employees, especially ones that moved for the job, will need a bit of time off to take care of chores like that.

Of course, your mileage my vary, depending on your boss. :)
