Facebook killed the radio star. And by radio star, I mean the premise of distributed forums around the internet. And that got got by Instagram/SnapChat. And that got got by TikTok. Where the fuck is the internet we once knew?

You're supposed to have a very low brightness for text reading, anyway!  It's those sports/video games that require high brightness.  :)
Truth. When I'm working in my room I leave ambient lighting off and just use a desk lamp near my laptop. So nice.

Does anyone else REALLY hate websites with text on a white background? Maybe it's just because my new monitor is way brighter than my old one (even with brightness turned all the way down) but that shit is really uncomfortable for extended reading.

YES, seriously try waking up first thing in the morning and being "blinded by the light" because you visit the default white Google homepage.

So I've been looking at prices for a new laptop to replace my aging dell. Why do people keep telling me I can get a similarly configured macbook around the same price as anything else? The closest I mac I could find to something cheap and powerful like this was about $2000. For that much I could buy two in case anything breaks and still have enough money leftover for hookers and blow.

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

shrugs.  i've had fewer problems with my mac than any laptop i've ever owned, and i use it orders of magnitude more.

they are expensive, but worth it, in my opinion.

truste1

My first Macbook caught on fire.

Like you said, you could buy some fire instead.

I use my HP about 10-14 hours a day and haven't had any issues. What other laptops have you had/what issues have you seen with them?

Gateway, dell.  My friends have had HP, Asus, gateway, dell, etc... and they are most of the time less reliable than my mac.

My girlfriend has had a MB for 4 years and the only problems with it haven't really been the machine's fault.  Spilled drink on the keyboard, etc.

I'm sure there are PCs that fair as well, but in my experience, they're farer and fewer between.

I've been using my Dell Latitude D820 almost every day for over 4 years.  I had 1 problem with my screen, but that was fixed pretty easily.  Aside from that it's been great for my needs.
