Workout music
« on: April 07, 2006, 09:52:03 pm »
My stepdad wants me to make him a CD of workout music.  Anybody have suggestions of music with good beat/energy?  Specific artists or songs would be best.  Something that a 40+ person would listen to.

His first suggestions -- Life is a HIghway.

Any ideas?

Jeff Deyo - Lose Myself
Metallica - The Call of Ktulu
Deliverance - J.I.G.
Deliverance - Purgatory Sandwich With Mustard (unless your dad is catholic!)
Hillsong - Better Is One Day
The Insyderz - Shout To The Lord

Lose Myself isn't all that heavy of a beat, but J.I.G will provide an intense workout. Better is One Day would be a stretch / cool down, I think.

I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

Unearth - The Great Dividers.  There's a point where it picks up; if you're working out, I think it would really help you get moving (if you're into that kind of music, which I know you are).

Cool, I'll check it out.  Here are other songs I've been thinking of:

Life is a Highway
Summer of '69
Believe (gotta have some Cher!)
Enter Sandman
Worlds Collide
Dragula
Toxic Waltz

Any sort of non-lyrical techno would be good for workouts.

I don't think he likes techno.  He wants more like something he can listen to and enjoy.

Another good Powerman 5000 workout song is When Worlds Collide.  You could always use Immigrant Song too.....

Eye of the Tiger and AC/DC are good calls.

I already put When Worlds Collide on my list.

And no, I'm not making my stepdad listen to "Fuck!...I'm Dead" :P

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.
