Natives piss me off

Ok, here's what happened:

There's this native kid.  He's 18.  He has a history of violence, and several (like, 5) arrest warrants for him, for committing violent crimes (assault with a deadly weapon, etc.).  Now, the police find him.  There are 3 police officers, and this kid.  He pulls a knife.  They tell him to drop the knife, 3 times.  The kid tries to attack them.  The cops shoot and kill the kid.  Cut and try, right?

The cops are then accused of racism.  The "Aboriginal Society of Winnipeg" or whatever are all over it saying that it was a hate crime and blahblahblah. 

It was later revealed that the officer who shot the kid was ALSO native.  But apparently, the kid was still killed for being an Indian, it has nothing to do with attacking the police with a knife.

And people wonder why the Natives have such a bad name -- it's because they try to pull shit like this.

:( that's sad about the kid, taking the knife down with a gun seems drastic. I'm sure they could have gangbang tackled him and they'd have been fine. Thats what our tax dollars are for.

I still think that brings up the concern with excessive force, of course the cops don't know what the kid had on him, but cmon a shot to the leg or shoulderblade would have been efficient!

I seem to remember reading or seeing a show somewhere about how cops, when they have to shoot, are always shooting to kill.  Maybe it was on CSI, I dunno..

yea my teacher said something like that, they shoot to kills because it's humane or whatever, so you're not throbbing in pain while you lie there.

I don't know about it being humane -- I think the reason is that if a cop is shooting, his life is in danger, and he won't hold back.  I dunno, I'm sure there's a reason.

The best bet is probably, DON'T ATTACK A POLICE OFFICER WITH A KNIFE
