My teacher (same as the computer one) said he's been itching to setup a Linux lab at school, and I offered to help.  Just wondering about prelim info.  How easy is it to setup a network controlled user-base?

Joe

I'm not even sure if that's possible.

You could create a server box with a huge hard drive and a folder in /home for each of the users, and then mount it in initrd or whatever and symlink their /home/_USERNAME_ to it. Then all you have to do to switch computers is symlink your folder when you log on. Either that or just assign seats and have your stuff stored locally.

You might be right about that, Joe.

Thanks, that helps a lot.  I only took a short bit of time to skim, but it looks helpful.  I'll look into it when I have more time.

Sure.  A Linux lab sounds like a pretty neat idea.  I wish your teacher luck. :)
