Well, I'm a fan of TV serieses, so I like Star Trek better.  Although I've never really seen any of the Star Wars movies, so who knows?

However, I've been watching Battlestar Galactica, which *might* be better than both. More to come on that eventually.

My boss thinks so.  He's a big Battlestar Galactica fan.

The original or the new one?

I like the new one.  I'm not into the older sci fi (Star Trek: original series), it's just too goofy.

Meh, Battlestar Galactica is just another drama tv-series with relatively few fighting/aliens/<things that make a scifi...scifi>.

I used to watch Star Trek and it was decent, but I avoided becoming a 'trekie' like the plague.  I abhore Star Wars.  While the ideas are creative and the graphics cool, I want to stab myself in the ears every time I hear the horribly, horribly, HORRIBLY unintelligent dialogue that has been dumbed down so that a 5 year old can enjoy it (the new ones at least, the old ones are -ok-).  Really ruins it for me.

If you want a good scifi show, go watch seasons 1-8 of Stargate SG-1.  Post season 8 they get a little meh and the Atlantis spinoff isn't as good, but both are worth watching if you enjoy the first 8 seasons of the original.  Maybe that's just my thing though, I happen to enjoy the incorporation of history/mythology with technology/aliens.

While I enjoy SG-1, don't get me started.  There are sooooo many discrepencies it's mind-boggling.

Chavo

Agreed! Name a scifi show that isn't true for ;)

RoMi

Hands Down; Star Trek.  Star Wars is great, don't get me wrong, and it works well as a movie, but wouldn't as a TV Series, while Star Trek is dynamic, it can do both well.

Which ST?  The original blows, 2.0 is worse, TNG was alright, DS9 was alright, Voyager sucked, and Andromeda....well, I don't even have to say anything about Andromeda.

If you want a really good sci-fi, watch Firefly.

RoMi

I know iago will disagree, but TNG is the best Star Trek series.  I like the original Series for its characters though.  They are classic and timeless.

TNG is one of the better ones, I think.

DS9 > *
TNG and Voyager are pretty good
The Original Series is pretty lame, but is fun to occasionally watch
And Enterprise.. let's not talk about that.

How the hell did I forget about Firefly!  I think I'll go watch Serenity now.

Enterprises writers just had the wrong idea.  They made episodes that kept playing off the last episode, so if you missed one you missed a lot.  A good show with a large audience base can pull this off, however Enterprises's base didn't get large enough before they made these continuous episodes.

Serial shows can be great, like DS9, but you can't start like that.  You need an audience base first.
