Downtime this morning..
« on: August 26, 2006, 12:15:30 am »
What happened?
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

Terror attack in Canada.  Didn't you hear?

And incidentally, dyndns's auto-updating tools suck balls.  Neither of them works, apparently.  I'm just going to write my own as a shellscript, it's just a wget call.

Haha, I've noticed that too.  I chose a more convoluted approach.  I made www and @ aliases of sidoh.no-ip.org.  The no-ip client isn't too bad. :)

You guys suck. ddclient has yet to fuck up. :)

Of course, I use dhclient, so having /etc/dhclient-exit-hooks automatically run when dhclient finishes renewing a lease is always helpful. Beats having a daemon run. :)

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

ddclient doesn't seem to update my address, or, for that matter, do anything at all.  Same with ez-ipupdate.

I used to use the no-ip client, but it stopped working.  So I just moved over to dyndns.com to solve that.  I really don't want to bug people to move my IP again.

Which reminds me, I need to get javaop.com and x86labs.org transferred to me somehow, before they expire.. neither Lobo nor Mythix are around much, and I'm worried that they'll forget to renew and somebody else will grab the domain.

You can call 641-822-3314 for javaop.com, but I'm not sure about x86labs.org :\

Well, I can get in touch with either, I just don't like bugging them.

Would it make you feel better if I bugged you to bug them?

I'm pretty sure it was around Christmas.  So there's still a few months.

I have access to Lobo's account. If all else fails I can renew it.

Can you find out how long till it expires?

Err, nevermind, I can:
x86labs.org: 16-Feb-2007
javaop.com: 2006-12-25

So both are ok for awhile.  But I have a credit card now, so I can pay for them myself, so if it's possible, I'm going to get them to "sell" me the domain.

X-Mas ftw!

Anyway, they can just transfer the domains, you don't necessarilly buy them.

Yeah, but it'd be like buying them, which is why I said "'sell'" (in quotation marks).

And yeah, it was originally a Christmas present :)
