The direction of this forum..
« on: August 30, 2006, 11:59:22 pm »
As a blog-type forum, this doesn't get used much anymore, although I expect it's usage to go up slightly as school starts and progresses. However, I'd like to broaden discussion here beyond simply "Joe-related" stuff. A few new topics:

  • Programming discussion (Mainly my two current languages, C# 2 and B-LUA)
  • Code snippets from said languages, for critique and reference
  • World of Warcraft related discussion that mainly pertains to me, such as progress through the game
  • Current Events and General Discussion as moderated by me. I'd like to see a Current Events specific forum in the future

I'm not sure how well this is going to work out, but I'll be giving these ideas a shot over the next few weeks.
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

General Programming.

  • World of Warcraft related discussion that mainly pertains to me, such as progress through the game

So basically you blogging. Ok. We're back at square one.

  • Current Events and General Discussion as moderated by me. I'd like to see a Current Events specific forum in the future

General Discussion can include Current Events. If you want a current event board, request one. Or ask yours to be converted to one. Either way, if no one brings it up it won't happen.

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

To point one, posting code snippets isn't generally appreciated in general programming. It's more Q&A in my book, as well as posting packages, but simple functions aren't wanted. It'd be cool if we could add a subforum there for code critiquing.

To point three, people don't seem to like news posted in excess, although theres so many funny / interesting stories to post it's really hard to pick and choose.

That said, both said forums have been requested (members only link).
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

Then what are we supposed to critique? Entire programs? Fucking hell no. We critique snippets of code that you don't feel fully confident with.

To point three, people don't seem to like news posted in excess, although theres so many funny / interesting stories to post it's really hard to pick and choose.

No it's not. If one is so funny it made you chuckle in real life, post about it. If it's a news article with no relevance and you know will just add one more post to your post count, don't post it.

To be honest, I could seriously care less about my post count. In fact, I wouldn't mind if you modified the skin to not even include them!

Most of them made me chuckle out loud, and out of those, I still had to choose.

Three lefts make a right.
Three rights make a left.

Okay, so:
3L = R
3R = L
9L = L

So if we took 9 Democrats, would we have 9, or just 1?  Dun dun dun...

Stopping something that may not exist?  Which one is that:  WMDs in Iraq?  Second-hand smoke killing?  Murdering fetuses?  Global warming?  There's a lot of stuff that both sides try and stop that may or may not exist... the important part isn't which side you're on, it's about how scared the government can keep their citizens.  See also: 1984.

I was talking about the present, obviously.  "See also: 1984" is a cross-reference to the book by George Orwell.
