I'm constantly pressing refresh on the Ubuntu homepage. lol.
This is the kind of thing that keeps me going throughout the week. LOL. ;D

By the way, if any, who uses Ubuntu here?

I use Ubuntu but I'm not looking forward to Edgy. I'm currently running the AMD64-Server but I want to use it for other stuff than just LAMP (reason why it was installed in the first place). I'm downloading the 6.06 Desktop(64bit) right now. We'll see how that works out.

I used ubuntu until dapper came out and they ruined the easy-to-use interface in gnome. Of course, that's totally my bias against "change is good", but I'd rather use Slackware over Ubuntu now, just because of that.

It's all preference. Ubuntu, being simplistic and very easy to use, it is my preferred distro.

You don't see me calling you stupid for using a more complicated distro when you can use an easy-to-use one, do you?

I had the best experience with Ubuntu. Everything component of my laptop worked... out of the box. Other distros I had to mess with crap to get it to work. Also, with Ubuntu, the community is awesome, any question I had was answered. On top of that, tUbuntu has a HUGE repository. It had every program I ever needed.

Yes, that's a great advantage of some other distributions.  Things that work out of the box usually come with disadvantages as well, as I'm sure you've realized.  "Messing" with crap is fun!  Plus, that's how some people want their operating system to be.  They want to build it from the ground up, so to speak.

I'm not trying to convince you to use Slackware (because I realize that it's not for everyone), but I do want to point out some of the advantages that you've probably already recognized.

Yup, of course. Being that I am not that familiar with Linux, I can't "mess" with it. I'm sure if I had the knowledge to "mess" with it so I could customize it to my exact liking, I would and when that time comes, I would probably switch distros.

I'm using 6.06 at the moment, simply because I broke my slackware and I have yet to have the time to fix it. I've been writing too many papers for school as of late.
