so the reason the bridge fell down was because it was old and it fell...
and the construction crew knew it was deteriorating but they didnt fix it.. i has been deteriorating since 1990ish
I got all this off of the news so if anyone wants to add be my guest

Err, shitty news. They were in the process of reconstruction, adding more to the bridge.

On a side note, who the fuck cares? Honestly, a bridge falls. A minimal amount of people die. And it gets news coverage for... how long? At that rate, there should be a channel to report every fucking death in the nation.
Thank you. I didn't want to say it and sound insensitive.

yeah seriously who cares about people dieing of a bridge. whats more interesting is the two helicopter pilots crashing into each other while chasing a high speed chase. this happened like a week ago over in Texas. hmm sux for them

It is newsworthy because it should never, ever happen.  The process to prevent fatigue-related bridge collapses is ridiculously extensive and someone is definitely going to get the axe for this.

In other news, leet_muffin apparently has no idea how slow the news world really is.

Seems like there should be /something/ out there to report on. Either that, or maybe there should be  1 mainstream news channel rather than 5+

Traffic will SUCK for a looong time now. When the debris is cleared, they will start constructing a new bridge, and everyone knows how much construction slows down traffic. :(
Yeah, but I have to deal with that traffic on a daily basis in a month or so.  And that is going to bite MAJOR cock.  Seriously.  Public transportation's even out of the question now, because I'm pretty sure all routes used that bridge. -.-  BOO for getting up even earlier for carpools.

Yes exactly. It's important and newsworthy because that should never happen. There are going to be families whose dads aren't coming home anymore because of negligance. I think that's perfectly newsworthy.

In my experience, busses get re-routed around stuff like that. Maybe it's different where you live, though :P

Damn.
No.  Bridge
Now we need to dambit.

(Get it? Damb it? Make a damb over it? Ok, not funny, but I tried)

What's a damb?  Whatever.  Building a bridge takes quite a while, too.  Who knows though, maybe they'll build a tunnel?
Damb. No, wait, dam. They sound the same and confuse me sometimes. :(
Just cause you wanna make up words like our awesome president ::)

Back to my claim: Happens everyday, everywhere.

Also: Yes, it is newsworthy. Once. Not 3 days newsworthy.

People in a complex series of checks make a major mistake resulting in the loss of life everyday, everywhere???  Not being sympathetic towards the victims is one thing, but you sound like you are bitter just because it is on TV.  If you don't like it, don't watch it!

Well, that part goes back to living in a state of fear.

Look at 9/11 -- It was newsworthy, once or twice, Not 7 years newsworthy :P

rabbit

Not only 7 years, but also 7 years on 15 consecutive channels.  That's 105 years of coverage!

I just read an article on DailyKos blaming Bush ???

I bet Barry Bonds is Bush's fault too ::)

Yes, they get re-routed.  But unless I am going to be airlifted to school, every re-route will either be HORRENDOUSLY long, or will hit the major congestion areas. :p
