Ugh, not sure actually, DoD:S is installed, I just can't play/do anything (i.e. make a desktop shortcut) with it till the 26th.
It doesn't really hurt much really, I just have a wide range of games I play frequently. However, I can only run three at once. :P
Hah, I have literally ~30gb of games if I installed all of the installers I have. And then if you add all the CDs I have, probably another 6-7 gb. ;)

@Ergot: junk? the tray icons or all the icons on my desktop?
Both of them. I tend to keep my systray icons to a minimum.
Some of them are just an unnecessary waste of resources.
yeah i have a lot of tray icons. but they all serve a good purpose(cept this gay one that i cant remove. it's pissing me off)
as for the desktop icons, i have too much programs ;). i use em most of em on a weekly basis ironically.

That's my favourite back ground. I've had it for atleast a half year now.
omg xfce ;O ?
Warning: it's HUGE (in file size).

As for Swap: Down... it's a problem with the sK theme ;(
wow, sexy ergot :)
Very sexy, Ergot.
I only have so many folders on my desktop because I beta test a lot of people's private "hacks". Most all of them are for CS 1.6 though, so eh. Everything else is a must because I'm lazy.
What's wrong with xfce ?
Nothing. I just don't like it ^_^
Though, I plan on going on a window manager hunt soon... Hopefully something will inspire me to get rid of KDE ;P
What's wrong with the KDE desktop?

No, he just needs to make it a JPG file. PDF is just a gay format for everyday use. It's slow, bloated, and clunky. Anything that takes more than 12 seconds too load is gay.

Trust, shut up please. I should't need an external program to open an image, period. For one it's stupid, two, it's a fucking waste of computer space, regaurdless of the size of the program.

Oh, we're sorry your computer doesn't come with a PDF viewer, but does everything else you need. Would you hate it if you had to download every codec so you could enjoy your MP3s, oggs, FLACs, m4as, etc? If you had to download xvid and divx for your video files? If you had to download libraries so you could run games?
pdf is the standard for printable documents, and many manuals are downloadable in .pdf format.
They're quite small, and they aren't ugly. In fact, I don't find many eBooks outside of .pdf format.
Macintosh is a small fraction of the total number of desktop computers in the world. If it's a standard in Mac, accept it.
Lossless PDF files are very very good quality. If it's an image, it's practically perfect.

1.2MB is a damned bulky screenshot.

Is a screenshot a printable document, manual, or eBook?
I don't think he was saying he couldn't view the document either, Newby. More like it was a shitty format to save a screenshot in (not that I care or anything).
Asside from that, Newby, none of us said that PDF's suck (though it seems Scr33n0r may have been implying that, I think he was speaking strictly about screenshots), we just said it's not a very optimized format for a screenshot.
Agreed, PDF has it purposes... great for Ebook and maps or something that need extreme quality... just not screenshots ;P

The only reasonable way for it to be smaller is to reduce the quality, which could be done on a normal image as well. :P

Yeah, it's not exactly a "sexy" background like yours. :-\ But that's how most Linux related backgrounds are normally.
They shouldn't use pictures like those as backgrounds. I've experimented before... they just end up slaughtering the desktop and hiding icons... then make a sickening color combination. :P Solid colors own... just not that default green/blue for Windows ;D

The GIF problem is from like, 1995ish and was because some company owned a patent on the type of compression used in GIFs. The JPG one is recent (http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/11/18/0154208&tid=155&tid=123&tid=152). PNG has no patents associated with it, fair game for everyone.
We should patent it just to be total idiots.

Newby: Gnome is nice, but it doesn't look like you put too much effort into yours.
nslay: Yea...I can't stand those boxes that spawn in that lower corning. Stupid WM.
The boxes that spawn in the lower corner...or "the clip", are the parent processes.
These boxes are differentiated by iconified windows in that they represent the
entire application. That said, if you double click a clipped box, it will bring to front, all non-iconified windows as well as the iconified boxes of the parent process.
Moreover, this allows for easy process killing...I can kill a process by right clicking the clipped box and selecting "Kill"
Oh, this also for hiding all windows of a parent process. If you right-click the minimize button on a window, it will cause all the windows of the parent process to minimize into the clipped box (Hence you will see a dot signifying that windows are hidden there). This is particularly useful if you want to eliminate some windows and iconified windows (boxes).
So that clip, or the boxes in the lower corner are very useful. But people generally don't see the value in these different features because its very common for window managers to have a Windows style layout, like KDE, Gnome and so forth. Window Maker is for lazy bums since its almost completely effortless to do anything, especially if you setup hover-to-focus.

I think most straight men have memory of her (but her name isn't that famous). She's one of the Victoria's Secret angels. I have like 75 pictures of her for my background. I figure those will last me longer than the collection of abstract backgrounds I've collected over the years!

Probably, but all my email and some of my familys email goes through it, (Virus/Spam checking) and I get quite a bit of stock spam.
Which reminds me... Take a look at this image
(http://xtarutaru.googlepages.com/EvilSpam1.gif)
Its the attachment (Dont worry... Its been virus scanned) from one of my latest spam emails. Notice how its animated? Before, they werent and didnt have the lines like captchas have. This leads me to think someone was successfully blocking them somewhere. I'm not really having much luck with spamassassin so far though. :-(

I guess that wouldn't be quite the picture of Bush you would have if you were anti-Bush. You'd have a slightly different picture, like one I've seen on a friend's computer.
I've had various Bush wallpapers. I like that one alot, I also made one that simply was black and had "W" in a nicely contrasting gray font. In my bedroom I also have a Bush Cheney '04 yard sign hanging up, a Bush calendar, and my picture with Laura Bush. :)

That would be the reason for me to have him on my screen. Though since mine is a laptop LCD maybe it is a good think i don't. Maybe if I buy the USB missle launch thing.

I like the trees too. No fall here in Miami. I going to Aspen so I'll see the winter during winter break but the seasons in Miami can be classified in three ways. Hot and less hot, very humid and not quite as humid, or Rainy and not rainy. All three classifications cover the same ranges. Late spring to early fall for the first items. And late fall to early spring for the second items.

F*** you.
Almost everyone here seems to be slightly biased towards OSX... Whats the problem with it? Last time I checked, Apple was delaying 10.5 because they wanted to make sure it is ready for release before they release it.
You can't say that much for Vista...

Almost everyone here seems to be slightly biased towards OSX... Whats the problem with it? Last time I checked, Apple was delaying 10.5 because they wanted to make sure it is ready for release before they release it.
You can't say that much for Vista...
Except that you can. I'm pretty sure that Vista was delayed a few times. Good intentions aren't equivalent to good results.
Right. Microsoft intended to fix Vista by delaying it, but that did shit.
10.5 will be a hell of a lot better then Vista will ever hope to be when it comes out.

1. What's wrong with Vista? I've experienced no flaws with the OS in of itself...
2. You're right, because the user base will be 1/100000th of that of Windows, so real flaws won't be brought out as often. ;)

Shut up. You run from every single argument you get in with me Sniper. I've proven you time and time again to be nothing more than a hopeless Mac loser.
Mac and Vista were delayed for the same reasons. You can't bash one and defend the other. Get off of Jobs' dick for a second and open your eyes man.
Vista was delayed because it didn't have the overall performance and quality that Microsoft wanted it to have when it launched.
Mac was delayed for the same reason, the difference is that Mac is much more secretive with Leopard's development so there is nothing to criticize them on until a release. You can't gauge how severely needed or how useless a delay would be. That's the only difference, in every other aspect what Microsoft did with Vista is identical to what Apple is doing with Leopard.
You're obviously closed minded, whenever someone even mentions Vista(or Zune for that matter) you go Apeshit(Appleshit?) and call it <Insert half-assed flame here>. Then, you show that you obviously have no idea what you're talking about and in the end pretend you don't see the thread anymore.
Don't you have a WDDC press release or Mac rumor to be wanking it to?

Yup.
I have mixed feelings about this, for one I like them because they're helpful (Just google the error code which brings you to a Microsoft support page) but they may confuse the average Joe sixpack.
A compromise may be to have all error boxes have a "View More" link which opens an error page in the event logger which is (way) more detailed and very helpful in Windows Vista.
Beneath all of the shiny buttons and flashy windows, an operating system as complex as Windows is inherently complicated somewhere along the lines. Things have to get ugly eventually.

I learned that when I hacked the image verifier on phpBB2 to stop the spam bots on my forum. I had to learn the PNG format to change the image generator. It actually has a bunch of cool formats, but the most commonly used ones are zipped 8-bit (grayscale) or 32-bit bitmaps.

Apparently, one embedded virtual machine (a virtual virtual machine) is the "limit". I don't have a verifiable source to confirm that, but my friend was saying after two, things start getting screwy.
I was thinking about that recently.. on VMWare, you can't use control-alt-delete, it brings up a message telling you to use control-alt-insert. I wonder what would happen if you tried to use control-alt-insert in a virtual virtual machine? Would the virtual machine tell you to use control-alt-insert instead?
On Virtualbox you can go to Machine -> insert "command" (i.e. ctrl alt del, ctrl alt backspace). Also, mouse integration works with every OS I've installed so far, so hitting the release for that isn't an issue either... of course, you could just set the hotkey for the mouse release to something different per machine, but where's the fun in that?

Bull sugar! When I was in highschool, someone tried to tell me the same thing, so I did it just to see if it worked. After I finished the third, the machine was too slow for me to be willing to try another.

Yeah, I think that was the limit he was referring to. He wasn't saying it was impossible; I think what he was getting at was more along the lines of "speeds become unreasonably slow."

My windows side desktop. I have arch installed on my main machine as well but rarely use it just because I don't like to reboot (I can't run Warcraft nearly as well from linux, unfortunately).
I have 2 19" LCD monitors, the primary one (on the right) is a LG (http://us.lge.com/products/model/detail/computer%20products_lcd%20monitors_full%20line%20of%20lcd%20monitors_L1933TR-SF.jhtml) that I absolutely love. I do most everything on the right monitor and use the left primarily for reference pertaining to whatever activity I'm doing. Pidgin is usually docked on the far left which explains the slightly odd placement of my few odd folders there. I like to keep my temporary folders on my desktop to help remind me to clean them up. The odd little array of clocks near the bottom right of the left screen is a pardus clock which reminds me of certain regular events for an online web based mmo I play. The only other notable I can think of at the moment is the magnet icon in my system tray. That is for SftpDrive (http://www.sftpdrive.com/), a utility that saves me ridiculous amounts of time.

The only problem I've had with sftp is that transfer rates seem to cap off at ~200 KB/sec when downloading... even on a LAN...

Yes, at drinking. I'm pretty sure failure at drinking consists of getting lost in the streets, fighting people, and relying on others for your own wellbeing. In fact, your actions while drunk remind me quite a bit of the stereotypical actions of belligerent black folks you hate so much.

I stopped by the head professor of the game development degree plan, or whatever, at my University a month or so ago. He had 4 monitors, 2 were like at least 22" and they were positioned on the outside... and the 2 in the middle were like larger than 22" but they were those 3D monitors. He had a background that had a bunch of pebbles in a river, or some shit... like a real hi-def close up of the pebbles... and i swear dude it looked real. I actually asked if I could come around his desk and look closer. I got real close and it was fucking amazing lol. I can't even imagine working in that setting.

The only important question I see pertaining to your desktop: what custom maps do you play on WC3
I'm still new to Wc3 seeing as.. how when I started, the wiring of my mouse died. But, what I've played so far consists of Dota, Werewolf Transylvania (played this on touchpad and won haha), and just those little silly games like Rabbits vs Sheep/Uther Party/Footsies. I don't play actual wc3 games though.
