Pretty crazy that we're closer to 2030, than we are 2005. Where did the time go!

So, me and my friends are starting up a hackerspace called SkullSpace Winnipeg. We've been working at it for a little over a month (mid-December), and things are going super well! We don't have the actual space left (hopefully very, very soon), but things are getting exciting.

All our info (twitter/facebook/mailing list/blog/flickr/youtube/etc) is on our site, http://www.skullspace.ca

A local university newspaper did a story about us today:

It's exciting!

Do any of you have hacker/builder/makerspaces in your towns? If so, do you visit them?

First I've ever heard of them.  But from what I've read, they range from some guy's mom's basement to a LAN cafe?

They're typically a working space where people can get together and work on stuff. Typically a big open room is used, but you can call anything a hackerspace in theory :)

Sure, let's say that! Who wants to buy a membership? First one's free!

I think I'm an honorary member of SkullSpace (they sent me a cupcake!), and I'm working on ideas to get money out of my parents to join Sector 67. I made my first visit on Saturday and fell in love. I'm not a hardware guy but the idea of having a building of nerdism available to me at 2AM is absolutely intriguing, and if I fall asleep on the couch, they'll poke me in the morning!

You might be right about that, Joe.
