Tall tales
« on: November 14, 2005, 07:51:31 pm »
John approached the bar aboard the "Pinnatus" cruise ship and overhard Eddy, the "hero" of the day, telling his tall tale.  "I've been sailing for 20 years and never did anything like it", he said.  "I came out of my cabin door and heard shots.  Then I saw this man at the front of the ship waving his gun around, so I threw myself to the floor and covered my head.  Moments later, I looked up and saw a gun right in front of me.  I picked it up and fired the first shot in the air, and the second at the gunman.  Fearing for my life, I ran to the back of the ship.  Next thing I knew there was security everywhere, and they said I had shot the assassin and was the hero of the day.

What's wrong with his story?

It never ends! (You forgot the ending quote)

The gun was a single-shot style gun?

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

How could he see the front of the cruise ship from his door, which would be in a hallway on a cruiseship?
And like a fool I believed myself, and thought I was somebody else...

It didn't happen that way.  As you said, "tall tail".

He covered his header.

How did the gun get in front of him?

He shot at the gunman, but if the gun was in his hand, wouldn't he be committing suicide?

It was a very open hallway.  Good try :)

Haha, clever, but wrong.  And the gun got in front of him by luck, I guess.  Header?

Are all the typos intentional?  It hard to tell. :(

Why does he shoot into the air, who gives a assassin a warning?

Who was the assassin trying to kill, there was never a mention of anyone important...
And like a fool I believed myself, and thought I was somebody else...

Typos are because I didn't poofread it.  I fixed the obvious ones.

He shot in the air to scare the assassin.  It doesn't matter why.

The assassin was trying to kill somebody important.  I don't know, the queen? Why not!  Or change "assassin" to "terrorist :)

I still say something about the number of bullets in the gun.

If the terroist already shot, wouldn't it be too late to be the hero?

You'd be wrong.

If the terroist already shot, wouldn't it be too late to be the hero?
He missed.  He wasn't very good at being a terrorist :P

It doesn't matter.  Let's say a Glock 9mm.

Would it have to do anything with the fact that it's a Cruise liner, so it's probably screened all of the people on the boat for weapons?
