It's cheaper / more economically efficient for the consumer or buyer to purchase Windows alongside their computer purchase.

Sure, I hate it that you really can't get a PC without an OS, but hey, the average consumer that buys a pre-built PC will want Windows. If you use BSD/Linux, odds are you'll end up getting a hand-me-down / building your own to use it on.

Eh I've seen a complete tower with XP Home installed + OS cd, for 299$ at tigerdirect. XP Home, alone sells for 89$+, and that desktop was worth more then 210$. I beleive it was one of the wintergreen systems they offered way back.

It is a popular managment software Ipowerweb uses for some of their machines. Although it's interface looks clean and fancy, in my opinion, what it gains in appearence, it lacks in everything else Although wait! thier webmail portion is sexah!

My $2100 21" 1600x1200 resolution monitor has more sharpness than I've seen on any other monitor, no matter what the resolution. And it's flatscreen.

You know what's really funny about that?  I paid $250 for my 1920x1440 21" flat-screen monitor.  And it kicks your monitor's ass.

Where'd you get that from? I may buy one.

A few years ago I would have said CRT definately, but quality of LCD monitors has come a long long way since then, and I want one to replace my crappy old CRT. My brother just got a nice 19" LCD a month or two ago and it rocks.  Deskspace definately isn't an issue for me, my desk is monsterous (3' x 11') but yeah, LCDs are sexy.

I also agree with that, however I still go for the CRT option when I buy a monitor. More resoultion for your dollar.

Bush didn't start the cause for the war, though...

War is designed to resolve problems.  Saddam Hussein was definitely a serious problem.

I saw this at work yesterday (yes I can watch CNN where I work ), I found it quite interesting, although it's an opinion from a well respected journalist, it seems to shed light on the ties between Iraq and 9/11 (leading up to the war). Scroll down until you see Wolf quote: "BLITZER: President Clinton once said of her -- and I'm quoting now -- "Presidents come and go, but Helen's been here for 40 years now." And that was back in 2000. The veteran reporter Helen Thomas has covered every president since John F. Kennedy, and they've all faced her no-nonsense questions, including President Bush today." Then the article starts.

You're forgetting oil.

My major problem is that there is now a lot of evidence that they knew that their intelligence was faulty looking for WMDs, but afterwards they backpedalled by saying "well, it was an oppressive dictatorship so it was good anyways."  It's the honesty I have a problem with. 

In addition, in my opinion, if a leader of a country is making life suck for the people who live there, it is the responsibility of the people to revolt and overthrow the government, establishing their own system.  It just doesn't seem right for another country, who is infinitely more powerful, to come in and bully everything. 

Note that both points there are opinions and cannot really be contested.  So there.

Wow, that is really scary.  My teacher was saying the bank passed a check that she didn't even sign a few weeks ago.  That kind of stuff makes you wonder...

It happens to people that are idiots. My business checks, since I write only 1-2 each month, the credit union I go through confirms them with me, as well as my other transactions, upon my request. Same thing for my credit cards, I also burn my paper's so, unless they can put that back together, I thyink I am pretty much safe.

I got a kick out of the article, as a hardcore IE user, I took a lot of the article with a grain of salt. As for the tabbed browsing for IE6, I did notice it opens a new process, but when you have an "above average" system who cares?

Overall opinion:

Each browser has its strengths and weaknesses, and I found this site a weak attempt to be propagandist.

Cele is an immature moron. I remember back in e1 when he tried to join it, and I don't remember specifics but apparently it was a good thing he didn't get in.

Mike is his name, and I know him,set aside from his battle.net reputation, he isn't a bad person and actually has a very keen graphics eye for developing websites.

I (and most people I know) don't run ndis or wine.  And it's not fair to complain that Linux uses reverse-engineered Windows drivers for a lot of things because the companies who make the hardware only support Windows.  I think it's more impressive that the Linux people went to all the extra work. 

And it's not that I don't want Windows to upgrade security, you're misunderstanding what I'm saying.  They are calling security a "new feature", which I think is stupid.  They're advertising that they now have a secure operating system (which only took what, 20 years?) while every other OS beat them to it a long time ago.  That should hardly count as a "feature" of an OS, don't you agree?

A company of which dominates the market. I plan on buying Vista once it comes out, and within the next year, upgrade both of my servers to win2k3.
